MUNICIPAL SERVICES — URBANISM

URBANISM SERVICE (continuation)

Water supply

Water inlet from the lake or the river.

According to the urbanism policies, it is possible to install a water inlet in the shore of a lake or any stream with a permit. But for any other authorizations, you have to obtain required permits and authorizations under the provincial and federal policies. For the water supply inlet, you must obtain an authorization from the Canadian Parks and Wilderness society. According to the Society, such an authorization from them is not required if you dig a water inlet by hand. You still must make sure that your work is done within regulations in order to limit the impact at the vegetation and aquatic wildlife. If you install an inlet with special tools, then this automatically requires an authorization from the Society. We invite you yo get in touch with Mr. Michel Renaud from Canadian Parks and Wilderness society to obtain further information on water inlet at  (819) 688-2050, extension 235 and with Mr Marc Blaquière who is in charge of planning authority in order to get your municipal permit to install such an inlet. (681-3371, extension 5007).

Wells

The new provincial by-law on underground water catchment is now effective. A municipal permit is now necessary to install a driven well, shallow well, a well point or a spring tapping system. The government developed this new policy in order to control underground water activities thus, maintaining its sustainability and quality. For more information or to obtain a permit, you can communicate with Mr Marc Blaquière, planning authorithy officer, at (819) 681-3371, extension 5007.
