HISTORY AND HERITAGE
MUNICIPALITY OF LABELLE
Renewing policy number 2002-04 in reference to streets and premises naming ( including amendments ).
ITEM 1 - PURPOSE
The municipality wishes to create a policy on streets and premises naming in order to promote within those names the history and heritage of Labelle.
ITEM 2 - OBJECTIVES
- Promote the Heritage of the municipality
- Have names specific to the municipality
- Preserve the memory of names and premises
- Keep the momories of our pioneers alive
- Have the ability to be authentic
- By using the name of a person, not excluding members of its family which are important and meaningful to the municipality
ITEM 3 - INTERPRETATION
Committee : Planning advisory committee
Existing location : Location already serviced with a name or not
Street : Any public or private through street
Existing street : Street already serviced with a name or not
Society : Histoire de Chute aux Iroquois Society
ITEM 4 - NEW STREET OR NEW PREMISE PROCEDURE
When a new street is registered or a new premise is serviced and that it must be named, the municipal council chooses a name for the street or premise taking into consideration any recommendation from the planning
advisory committee.
To make its recommendation, the comity enlist the aid of Chute aux Iroquois’ History Society in order that it refers it to a name with a historic connotation or even to the owners that are living on the street or in the premise so they can file their suggestion which must abide by the policy.
The Society will be called up first so it can file 2 or 3 choices when possible,
then owners of the street or premise will be notified and the Society’s proposals will be included.
